The examination pattern for the State Bank of India Probationary Officer (SBI PO) comprises three phases: Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III.
Phase I: Preliminary Examination
This phase involves an online Preliminary Examination consisting of an Objective Test worth 100 marks. The test consists of three sections, each with separate timings:

Selection for the Main Examination is based on merit, drawn from the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination, without any sectional cut-off. Approximately ten times the number of vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination from the top of the merit list.
Phase II: Main Examination
The Main Examination is conducted online and consists of Objective Tests for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test follows immediately after the Objective Test, and candidates must type their answers on a computer.
(i) Objective Test: This test lasts for 3 hours and consists of four sections with a total of 200 marks. Each section has separate timings:
